Description Fireworks in original packaging. Rectangular cardboard box with green and white graphics and inscriptions: "2 / INCH / UNXLD / FLASH / SALUTE / REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. / Caution - Do Not Hold in Hand / MFD BY / THE UNEXCELLED MANUFACTURING CO. / NEW YORK / MADE IN U.S.A." Box contains four deactivated firecrackers which are green with red wicks.

Ownership and History The Unexcelled Manufacturing Company was a major employer in Graniteville, Staten Island, making fireworks there from the 1880s to the 1940s. The company was first incorporated in 1874 and had retail headquarters on Park Place in Manhattan. Unexcelled also produced pyrotechnics for military use in World War I and World War II. The Graniteville plant was the site of a deadly explosion in 1942, and was closed in 1945.
