Object Name Dish, Serving
Date 1865-1890
Description Porcelain serving dish with cover. Footed round bowl has two shaped handles; domed lid has a matching handle on top. Dish is mostly white, decorated with a salmon pink border with gold scrolls and small red flowers. Also has gold edge bands and gold patterned decoration on handles. Printed mark on underside: "H & Co." with double underline; made by Haviland & Co. in Limoges, France. Part of a dinner service (catalog numbers F07.2337-F07.2354 and F7.2382-2401).

Acquisition Gift of Florence Meyer Waldo
Ownership and History This dish is part of a large set that came to the Staten Island Historical Society from Mrs. Florence Meyer Waldo. Mrs. Waldo was a granddaughter of Louis H. Meyer (1815-1892) and donated many items from the Meyer family's lavish estate in the Fort Wadsworth area of Staten Island.
