Description Man's or woman's hat of red, white and blue cotton with stars and stripes pattern. Cylindrical crown angles slightly toward back. Flat brim is wide in front and slightly narrower in back. White synthetic fabric headband. [See also matching sneakers 77.031.0002.A-B.]

Acquisition From Rosemary Fitzgerald
Ownership and History This hat was acquired by the Staten Island Historical Society in 1977. It was most likely worn for 1976 Bicentennial celebrations. The donor, Rosemary Fitzgerald, worked with the Historical Society's Education Department in the 1970s.
