Description Toy stuffed monkey. Machine-sewn brown cloth body with black button eyes and a long tail. Monkey wears a tan dress with lace collar, pants, and a cap. Overall height 12 inches.

Acquisition Gift of Jane DePuy and Mrs. Alvin DePuy
Ownership and History This stuffed animal was made for Jane DePuy (1900-1991), who lived most of her life in Port Richmond, Staten Island. As an adult Jane worked as the volunteer curator at the Staten Island Historical Society. During World War II she served in the Women's Army Corp (WAC). For part of her service she was stationed in Berlin with the armed forces as a staff sergeant working in counterintelligence.
