Ownership and History The Nassau Recycle Corporation plant on Staten Island was a successor to the earlier Tottenville Copper Company. Nassau was at one point a leading recycler of wire and other metal products related to the telephone industry. It was one of Staten Island's largest industrial employers in 1980. Industrial operations at the Richmond Valley Road site ended by 2001, followed by a period of hazardous waste remediation.
