Description Pair of woman's white satin shoes with pointed toe and 2-inch heel. Hand sewn. Pleated detail around the front; layered ribbon shaped like a bow on the vamp. Leather sole has 5 dot markings in the shape of [+] on bottom.

Acquisition Gift of Mrs. Edgar L. Benjamin
Ownership and History This pair of shoes was donated to the Staten Island Historical Society in 1941 by Mrs. Edgar L. Benjamin, whose maiden name was Joanna Hillyer Egbert. She was the daughter of Alice E. (Hillyer) Egbert and Barnett Egbert Jr., and the granddaughter of John Blake Hillyer and Joanna (Simonson) Hillyer, all residents of Staten Island, New York.
