Object Name Certificate, Marriage

Description Marriage certificate. Engraved scenes include a wedding ceremony, angels, cornucopias with flowers, a church, a house, and a couple sailing in a boat with an eagle head in front. Printed and handwritten inscription: "HE SHALL GIVE HIS ANGELS CHARGE OVER THEE / HE THAT / LOVETH / HIS WIFE / LOVETH HIMSELF. / Eph. V. 28 / SHE WILL / DO HIM GOOD / ALL THE DAYS / OF HER LIFE / Prov. XXXI. 12 / THIS IS TO CERTIFY / That Jacobson W. Wood of Tottenville / in the State of New York and Ann Amelia Butler of Richmond Valley / in the State of New York were by me Joined together in / HOLY MATRIMONY / on the second (2d) day of April in the year of our / Lord, One Thousand Eight Hundred and seventy Nine (79) / C. Clark / Minister of the Gospel". In tiny print at the bottom: "Deutz Bros., Lithographers, 13 & 15 Murray St. N.Y. / Entered according to the Act of Congress in the year 1874 by N. TIBBALS & SONS, in the Office of the Librarian of Congress, Washington DC. / N. Tibbals & Sons Publishers 37 Park Row New York."
