Ownership and History Although its maker is not known, this table is related to designs depicted on a broadside illustrating furniture made by Joseph Meeks and Sons of New York, dated 1833. Based loosely on French Restoration period prototypes, fine New York examples of Empire style furniture combine bold forms and exquisite and expansive use of richly figured mahogany veneer.
