Object Name Certificate, Marriage
Date June 16, 1872
Description Marriage certificate. Printed and handwritten inscriptions: "CERTIFICATE / OF / HOLY MATRIMONY, / THIS IS TO CERTIFY / That Hayward A. Manee of Richmond S.I. in the State of / New York and Armenia Laforge of Pleasant Plains / in the Staten of New York were by me Joined together in / HOLY MATRIMONY, / on the Sixteenth day of June 1872. Witness / I. Newton. Vansant / Minister of the Gospel." Printed at bottom: "Entered according to act of Congress A.D. 1868 by E. Goodenough & Co., New York in the clerks office of the District court of the United States for the Southern District of New York / Henry Seibert & Bros. Ledger Building cor. William & Spruce St., N.Y. / PUBLISHED BY E. GOODENOUGH & CO. 122 NASSAU ST. N.Y." Handwritten label glued on reverse, probably from donor: "Mrs WL Conner / Mother". Certificate has a central engraved image of two clasped hands surrounded by cherubs, and an engraving lower left of a wedding procession entering a church.
