Object Name Fan
Date ca. 1870-1900
Description Folding fan. Paper leaf has hand-painted designs on both sides. One side has a metallic copper color leaf with a design of cranes all flying toward the left; the cranes are white with black and red details. The opposite side of the leaf is pale blue with a design of fish and flowering tree branches. Bamboo sticks, with dark brown guardsticks. A long metal chain with paste jewels is clipped onto a small loop at the rivet. Probably made in China or Japan.
