Object Name Postcard
Date 1905 postmark
Description Picture postcard with a color-printed illustration of two dancers dressed in Pierrot and Pierrette costumes. Printed inscription at lower left, "Exultation". Handwritten initials in ink at lower right, "H de K". Reverse side is addressed to "Miss Gertrude A. Tate / c/o Miss Alice Austin [sic] / Clifton / Staten Island / N.Y." Reverse also has printed heading "CARTE POSTALE / POSTKARTE - CARTOLINA POSTALE" and fine print at lower left with artist's name, "M. M. VIENNE. / Nr. 147." Postmarked in Paris, France and in Rosebank, New York (Dec. 23, 1905). Postage stamp is printed "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAIS" with 10 cent value and an allegorical image of a sower.
