Original B&W print on gray cardboard mount. Group portrait of 15 men posed outdoors. They are arranged in 3 rows. The first row is one man lying on the ground; the second row is 7 men seated on rocks; the third row is 7 men standing. All but one of the men hold rifles. There are bare trees in the background. Handwritten inscription in pencil on reverse of mount: "Castleton Gun Club / Front L to R: Bill Alston, John Houseman / Geo. Smith, Bob. Sommers / Th. Geissel, Bill Blake, Ed Bennett / in front DeV. Burgher / Rear L to R: Wm. Wittie, Bert Sommers, Wm. Curry / James Bennett, Wm. Blake Jr., Geo. W. Vroom / Ed. Houseman." There is a pencil sketch showing the location of the Gun Club on Potter Avenue at the intersection of Fairview Avenue in Staten Island. The photo is not signed, but a previous cataloger attributed it to George Bear.
