Description Original tintype photograph. Three men stand behind three high-wheel bicycles; they lean one or both arms on the bicycles and look directly toward the camera. The man at left wears a uniform and holds a horn. The other two men wear jackets and tight-fitting knickers and caps. They stand on a floor in front of what looks like a fabric backdrop.

Ownership and History High wheel bicycles were popular in the 1880s, and many high wheel riding clubs were formed. The man standing at left in this photograph holds a horn, indicating that he was his club's captain or lead rider.
