On the walls behind the counter are shelves filled with different types of glasses, and signs with prices and lists of Horton ice cream flavors. Prices include 25 cents for an ice cream soda, and 50 cents for a "HOOPLE SPECIAL". In front of the counter are stools. The boy holds the handle of a soda dispenser.

The Lighthouse Restaurant was located on Richmond Road, Staten Island. This photograph shows restaurant owner Minnie Helt standing behind the soda counter with her grandson, Ron Brennan. The photograph was among several donated to the Staten Island Historical Society by Minnie's daughter, Eleanor (Prohaska) Brennan, who worked as a waitress in the family establishment.
