Description Original glass plate negative. Interior view. Elizabeth Nichols Watrous is seated in what appears to be a sleigh converted into a desk and chair, within an elaborately decorated interior with many textiles on the floor and walls. Inscription "E.A.A" in lower right corner. Identified by the photographer's inscription as "Interior Camp, Camp Inn, Bessie Watrous at Sleigh Desk, Thursday Aug. 31, 1893, Lake George."

Acquisition Museum Purchase
Ownership and History Camp Inn was located in Hague, New York, in the northern part of Lake George. It was mentioned in a New York Times article on July 5, 1896: "Mr. and Mrs. Harry W. Watrous of New-York City, are at home for the summer at their cottage, Camp Inn, near Hague." Another article in the New York Times, dated July 7, 1902, noted that "Mrs. Harry W. Watrous of New York recently gave a unique entertainment at her cottage, Camp Inn. It took the form of an exhibition of farm produce arranged in fantastic forms."
