Original B&W film negative. Front and side view of the Grand Manor Superette on Manor Road in Castleton Corners, Staten Island. There is a sign above the windows: "Grand Manor SUPERETTE INC." with a logo on either side shaped like a silhouette of Staten Island with the words "RICHMOND / FARMS." Sign in the window: "Grand OPENING." Fresh produce is displayed on a tray and in baskets on the sidewalk outside the door. The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "Grand Manor Superette / 420 Manor Rd. / 11/5/63 / 2 each 6x8".

Small, locally-owned grocery stores have long served Staten Islanders. The Grand Manor Superette, shown here celebrating its grand opening, was located at 420 Manor Road.
This building was still standing as of 2012, housing a shop called The Gallery of Favors and Gifts.
