Ownership and History The unusual two-person bicycle seen in this photograph appears to be the same type as one illustrated in an advertisement in the Richmond County Advance on September 5, 1896: "THE NEW DUPLEX. / Latest and Most Fashionable Style of Wheel. / Nicer than a Tandem. / Built by the Wolff American Mf'g Co. / Call and See It. / H. EGBERT, Agent. / Richmond Ave. & Ann St. / Port Richmond, Staten Island."
