Ownership and History The USS Damato was launched from the Bethlehem Steel shipyard in Mariners Harbor, Staten Island, on November 21, 1945. The woman holding the bottle is believed to be Mrs. Frances Damato, mother of Anthony P. Damato USMC (1922-1944).
