Acquisition Gift of Herbert A. Flamm
Ownership and History The Nelson K. Mintz auto dealership was located at 720 Richmond Terrace in New Brighton, Staten Island. The business had been established in 1928, but this 1955 photograph documents the grand opening at this location.

A native of Staten Island, Herbert A. Flamm was an active community leader as well as a prolific commercial photographer. Clients such as the Board of Transportation, the Richmond Poster Company, and owners of family businesses hired Mr. Flamm to document local stores and street scenes. The Staten Island Historical Society owns more than 7,000 of Mr. Flamm’s original film negatives.
