Acquisition Museum Purchase
Ownership and History Mary Louisa Alexander (nickname Lou) was a friend of photographer Alice Austen. Although the location is not noted in the photographer's inscription, it is probably the Alexander family's estate, Effingham, in Dongan Hills, Staten Island, as Austen took several other photos at Effingham on that same date.
