Description Original B&W film negative. View of the municipal parking lot bounded by Hyatt Street, Central Avenue, and St Mark's Place in St. George, Staten Island. Several houses on St. Mark's Place are seen in the background. The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "Globe / 3/31/64 / GI-98A-18311 / Parking lot St George / Mr. Robert Grant - 3rd floor / Mr. Corletto / 2 / Special Handling $20.00 / Rush Rush / 9:15 am - Ready 11:30."

Acquisition Gift of Herbert A. Flamm
Ownership and History The twentieth-century parking lot shown in this photograph occupied a site that had once held a nineteenth-century Marine Hospital complex where sick immigrants were quarantined. In 2015, a new state Supreme Court building opened at the location. As of 2016, at least two of the houses which appear in the photograph still stand.
