Original glass plate negative. View of the rustic style entrance gate to the grounds of Clear Comfort, the Austen family home in Rosebank, Staten Island. New York Harbor is seen beyond the gate. Trees and flowers are in bloom. The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "135 / Cramer / Gate large / Fine bright day, some wind / 7.40 a.m. Stop 4. / Dalh lense Quick snaps / Thursday August 5th 1887".
