Description Original B&W print on off-white cardboard mount. Front view of a store, seen from the street. Two men stand on the sidewalk in front of the door, looking toward the camera. A sign above the first floor has the same inscription on each side: "G. MEURER / HOUSE FURNISHING STORE" and in smaller print "CROCKERY & / GLASS WARE." Items displayed outside in front of the store include a wheelbarrow and gardening tools, wooden buckets, and a metal pail. A pitcher and other small items are displayed in the windows. Reverse side has two handwritten inscriptions in different handwriting: "Meurers Store / Bay St Stapleton" and "June 25 / 88."

Ownership and History George Meurer (born in 1866) is listed in the 1886 Staten Island directory as "George Meurer, stoves, 233 Bay St., Stapleton," with his residence at the same address.
