Description Original glass plate negative. Diagonal front and side view of a two-story Italianate style house with a wrap-around porch. Julia Marsh is seated on the porch railing, and Isabella (nickname Bella) McKean stands at right; both are wearing aprons. A boy sits on the porch railing between them; he wears a suit with short pants. All three people face the camera. Two wooden barrels are stacked next to the side door. A piece of fabric, possibly a dish towel, hangs over the porch railing at right. In the background are bare trees. Identified on the negative sleeve as the Cooking Club house, May 3, 1887.

Acquisition Museum Purchase
Ownership and History Alice Austen and several friends comprised the "Cooking Club," which met in a vacant Staten Island house that was loaned to them and cooked meals from their grandmothers' recipes.
