Description Original glass plate negative. View of tombstones in Copp's Hill Burying Ground in Boston, Massachusetts. The two tombstones in the center of the image both have carved skull and crossbone figures. At left a dog sits on the ground next to the tombstones. The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "330 / Old grave Daniel Malcom / Fine day / W.L. 3.30 P.M / 60 ft mistake / Inst / Tuesday June 28th 1892 / Boston."

Ownership and History The tombstone at left is that of Daniel Malcom (ca. 1724-1769), a sea captain who opposed the Revenue Acts and was considered a smuggler by the British.
