Description Original glass plate negative. Three men exit a wrecked ship through a door in the hull and walk down a wooden ramp toward the rocky shoreline; each man carries several pieces of lumber. Another man stands in a nearby rowboat and watches them. An empty boat is tied to the wooden ramp. Identified in envelope inscription as "Wreck off Mike Lyman's Caribbean dock. 2.20 p.m., Sat. Nov. 14, 1896."

Ownership and History The "Mike Lyman" referred to in the inscription is likely Michael Lyman of Clifton, Staten Island. He is listed in the 1895-1896 Staten Island directory as Boatbuilder, and in the 1897-1898 directory as Boatman.
