Description Original B&W print on green cardboard mount with gold edges. View of buildings and the waterfront in Stapleton, as seen from a hill. In the foreground at right, a man, seen in profile, sits on the hill looking out over the town. Embossed inscription in the lower right corner of the photo: "PORTRAIT & LANDSCAPE / I. Almstaedt. / PHOTO. / TOMPKINSVILLE, S.I." Handwritten inscription in pencil on the mount below the photo: "Staten Island Near Stapleton." An inscription on the reverse identifies the location as Tompkinsville and Stapleton as seen from Pavilion Hill above St. Paul's Avenue at Hannah Street, ca. 1885.
