Title K. Feist's, Monument, Granite & Blue Stone Works.
Object Name Print, Photographic
Date ca. 1880-1900
Collection Staten Island Geographic Collection
Description Original B&W print on white cardboard mount. Fourteen men pose in front of the K. Feist Stone Works in Tompkinsville, Staten Island. A small building at left has a sign at the roofline "K. FEIST. / STONE WORKS" and a smaller sign "OFFICE" over the door. In front of the office is a display of tombstones and monuments. The men are most likely the employees of the company; 9 of the men wear aprons over their clothing. Behind them is a large piece of equipment that appears to be a crane for lifting the blocks of stone. Printed caption below the photo: "K. Feist's, Monument, Granite & Blue Stone Works. / 32, 34 & 36 BAY STREET, Bet. WASHINGTON and SWAN STS. TOMPKINSVILLE, S.I." The photo appears to have been cut down from a larger size; the mount was added by previous catalogers.
