Description Original B&W print. View of a parade float on a street in front of houses; the event is identified as the Hudson-Fulton Celebration of 1909. The float carries a sign, "CONSOLIDATED FIREWORKS CO.," and is decorated with large models of fireworks, wheels, rockets, etc., along with bunting and flags with stars and stripes. The float is pulled by horses, and spectators and additional horses also appear in the photo. Leafy trees are visible in the background.

Acquisition Collection of the Staten Island Historical Society
Ownership and History New York State's Hudson-Fulton celebration commemorated the 300th anniversary of Henry Hudson's exploration of the Hudson River and the centennial of Robert Fulton's invention of the steamship. Activities including parades, fireworks, and exhibitions took place in all five boroughs of New York City. Here the Consolidated Fireworks Company of Staten Island joins in a local parade.
