Description Original B&W print. Diagonal view along a street with two horse-drawn fire vehicles moving toward the left, apparently as part of a parade. In front is a horse-drawn fire engine (steam pumper) with a man in uniform in the driver's seat and two horses harnessed in front; the sides of the engine and the large brass vessel at its rear are decorated with garlands of flowers or fruit, and the top of the vessel is decorated with plumes. Behind it is a wagon with two men in uniform and a dog seated in front; there appears to be an eagle mounted on the top of the wagon. The horses of both vehicles have cloths attached to their harnesses with the inscription: "NIAGARA / 5." In the background is a low dirt cliff topped by trees at left, with houses on flat ground at right. Handwritten inscription below the image: "BROOK STREET." Found in a paper sleeve with printed inscription "HASTINGS & MILLER, / PHOTOGRAPHIC MATERIALS, / 113 NASSAU ST., N.Y." and handwritten inscriptions: "Engine Co. / Niagara 5" and "ENGINE CO. N. 5."
