Ownership and History The American Linoleum Manufacturing Company was established in the 1870s in an area that came to be called Linoleumville and is now known as Travis, Staten Island. The company was a pioneer in the development of manufacturing methods and new linoleum products. At its height of operations between 1905 and the late 1920s, the factory employed 700 men and women and produced 90,000 square yards of linoleum per week.
