Description Original glass plate negative. Interior view of the kitchen of Clear Comfort, the Austen family home in Rosebank, Staten Island. At left is a large wooden cabinet with display shelves behind glass in the upper section and doors and drawers below; the upper section is filled with ceramic plates and bowls, and a glass pitcher. At right is a trestle table with a tablecloth; items on the table include ceramic pitchers, cups, and jar, a large metal bowl, and a lamp. A scale and balance tray hang from hooks on the ceiling; a towel hangs from a rope attached to the wall above the table. There is a calendar on the wall above the table (the year is not legible). The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "Our kitchen."
