Description Original B&W print on brown cardboard mount with gold edges. Interior view of St. John's Episcopal Church in Clifton, Staten Island. The church has a large stained glass window above the entryway and Gothic arches above the pews. (A faint reflection of the window can be seen, upside-down, over the right portion of the doorway and some of the pews.) Handwritten inscription on reverse of mount (possibly by Alice Austen): "St. John's Church / Clifton".

Ownership and History Dr. John Clarkson Eccleston (1828-1912), rector of St. John’s Church, was the father of Trude Eccleston, a close friend of photographer Alice Austen.
