Description Original glass plate negative. Interior view of a room in the St. John's Church rectory in Clifton, Staten Island. The room is furnished with a small table and four chairs, including a platform rocking chair. On the far wall are six stained glass windows. Inscription lower right: "E.A.A." The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "456 / Allen & Rowell / 40 / Library at the Rectory St. John's. / Fine day / 10 [min?] / 1 P.M / Stop 44 / P. lense / Monday Nov 17th 1890."

Acquisition Museum Purchase
Ownership and History Reverend John C. Eccleston served as the rector of St. John's Episcopal Church for more than 40 years. This photograph shows a room in his family's residence in the rectory of the church. His daughter Trude was a close friend of photographer Alice Austen.
