Description B&W print. View of the Richmond County Jail in Richmond (Richmondtown), Staten Island, in the process of being demolished. A portion of the building is still standing at right; the brick walls are partially covered with ivy, and there are metal bars on the windows. At left, the exterior walls are missing and some of the interior walls are visible; some sections of wall are collapsed outwards. There is a pile of rubble on the ground along the wall.

Acquisition Collection of Staten Island Historical Society
Ownership and History The Richmond County Jail at Richmond was demolished by the City of New York in 1959. The area where the jail stood is now part of Historic Richmond Town's parking lot.
