Description Original glass plate negative. Alice Austen and her friend Trude Eccleston, dressed as nuns, pose with seven other people in costumes that include a nurse and a Spanish dancer. Charles Barton (Trude's future husband), wearing a military costume, is seated on the floor. Alice and Trude both wear fabric bands with inscription "Pears' Soap," along with signs on the front of their habits that read "Good / morning / HAVE YOU / USED / PEARS' SOAP?" The people in the group are identified in the envelope inscription as Austen, Brand, Hemsley, Smith, Jessup, Eccleston and C.J. Barton.
