Description Postcard with original B&W print. View from an elevated vantage point. A group of 14 men and women and one child stand in the water; they all wear bathing suits and most are looking toward the camera. A wooden pier is on the right. On the land behind them are several buildings; the one in the center of the image has a large flagpole with an American flag in front of the porch. Several people are visible near the building. Inscription at bottom edge of photo: "STARK'S RARITAN BAY HOTEL, RICHMOND VALLEY / STATEN ISLAND, NY / 3455". Postcard has a divided back with printed inscription: "POST CARD / CORRESPONDENCE / NAME AND ADDRESS / PLACE / STAMP / HERE".

Acquisition Museum Purchase
Ownership and History The Raritan Bay Hotel advertised in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle newspaper and various hotel and fishing publications. The ads noted that the hotel was an excellent place for fishing, boating, and bathing, and boasted that they had their own farm to provide guests with fresh milk and eggs.
