Description Original glass plate negative. View of a rocky stream with dense woods to the left and right in the Catskills, New York. Two men (one wearing a striped hat and jacket) are in the stream, one standing and one sitting on a rock. At left, four women are seated on a rock; Trude Eccleston is at far left, and Alice Austen is second from right. The man wearing the striped jacket is Charles Barton. The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "Seed 23 / 333 / The Brook & group / Clear, sunny day / 12.35 P.M 3 secs / Stop 22 / Monday Aug 12th 1889 / Perken lense / Catskill."
