Description Original glass plate negative. View of Frank and Louisa (Alexander) Richards seated in a two-wheeled horse-drawn carriage in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They are on an unpaved street beneath a large bare tree. The horse and carriage are seen in profile in the middle distance. A dog stands near the wheel of the carriage. Inscription "E.A.A." in the lower left corner. The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "Stanley / 35 / No. 556 / Mr & Mrs Richards in cart on / Trapelo road big elm / Fine day, hazy / W.L. / 60 ft / 5.10 pm / Inst fast / Tuesday May 9th 1893 / Cambridge."

Ownership and History Mary Louisa (Alexander) Richards grew up in Dongan Hills, Staten Island. After their marriage in 1891, she and her husband Frank Richards moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts.
