Description Original B&W film negative. View of a freestanding billboard which has an illustration of an outdoor restaurant with a sign on the tent roof: "PARK AND EAT." Printed inscription on the billboard: "Double Treat / COSMO'S / DRIVE-INN / FOUNTAIN SERVICE / BEER - SEA FOOD / Hylan Blvd. near Clove." Sign at the top of the billboard: "Staten Island Outdoor." The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "Rich Poster 8/23/54."

Ownership and History In the 1956 Staten Island telephone directory, Cosmo's Drive Inn was listed at 1300 Hylan Boulevard in Grasmere, near Clove Road. This photograph was taken for Richmond Poster, which was for many years Staten Island’s primary billboard and outdoor advertising company. The company was one of photographer Herbert A. Flamm’s steadiest clients.
