Description Original B&W print on gray cardboard mount. An older man with a long white beard stands in front of a stable; he stands in 3/4 view, with his right arm resting on the stable. Inside the building are two cows facing forward; one is chewing on hay. A large dog is partially visible in the foreground. Handwritten inscription in pen on reverse of mount: "Mr. Israel Bedell Acc 248"

Acquisition Gift of Mrs. Elizabeth M. Barton
Ownership and History Israel and Charlotte (Manee) Bedell, married in 1852, lived with their six children in a house on Amboy Road in Pleasant Plains, Staten Island. Israel worked as an oysterman. Their daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth M. Barton, donated this photograph to the Staten Island Historical Society in 1935.
