Description Original glass plate negative. Interior view of a bedroom at Clear Comfort, the Austen family home in Rosebank, Staten Island. There is a fireplace at right, with a variety of ceramic items displayed on the mantelpiece. Furnishings include a bookcase, a washstand with a washstand set, a wicker chair, and two large Asian ceramic vases on low wooden stands. The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription (the inscription refers to this photo and also to negative 50.015.5257): "1278 & 1279 / Seed / 27 / Our room wardrobe / 1 m 55 secs 15 ft 3.45 PM / Medium light, flashed / light with looking glass / No 1279 / Corner bookcase & mantlepiece / 2 m 5 secs 4 P.M. 25 ft / Monday Nov 28th 1898 / W.L."
