Portrait photograph, cabinet card format on beige mount with rounded corners and gold beveled edges. Bust portrait of a boy; he wears a dark suit over a white shirt with a striped necktie. Handwritten inscription on reverse of mount: "Ernest Butts." Printed inscription on reverse of mount: "LOEFFLER'S / PORTRAIT GALLERY / Bay street, Corner Grant, / TOMPKINSVILLE, / S. I."
Biography and History Ernest Butts (1872-1953) was the son of Mary Catherine Haughwout and Alonzo Butts. Ernest lived his entire life in the Butts family home at 219 Union Avenue in Mariners Harbor, Staten Island. As an adult, he worked as an engineer for the Staten Island Rapid Transit.
