Portrait photograph, cabinet card format on cream mount with green printed border and rounded corners. Bust portrait of Alonzo Butts of Mariners Harbor, Staten Island. He wears a dark suit with windowpane checks over a white shirt with dark necktie. Printed inscription in green on the mount below the photo: "Lake / Richmond Terrace, / Port Richmond, S. I."
Biography and History Alonzo Butts (1840-1912), a seaman and oysterman, lived for many years at 219 Union Avenue in Mariners Harbor, Staten Island. He married Mary Catherine Haughwout in 1870, and they had two children, Emma and Ernest.
