Printed inscription on reverse: "CONSOLIDATION." This is a ballot from the November 6, 1894 vote on the issue of consolidation, which led to Staten Island becoming a borough of the City of New York in 1898.

Biography and History On November 6, 1894, Staten Island residents voted in favor of becoming a borough of the City of New York, as did residents in the areas that became the boroughs of Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx. The consolidated City of New York became official on January 1, 1898.
